Young Adult Spiritual Exercises

The faith was alive and strong for this group of young people!

The first annual co-ed Spiritual Exercises was held in Atlanta June 21-23 at the Carmel Retreat Center in Hoschton, GA.  Organized and led by Siobhan O’Connor, CRC and Fr. Martin Connor, LC, the retreat attracted 24 young adults from around the state, as well as from Florida and North Carolina.  For many, it was their first time experience with Spiritual Exercises, and it was a silent and powerful encounter with the Lord.

Beginning on Friday night with the meditations on Principle and Foundation of the spiritual life, the retreat also included all night adoration on the vigil of Corpus Christi, praise and worship music, confession and spiritual direction, prayers of blessing and healing, and finally, at the concluding Mass, the renewal of baptismal promises.

Fr. Martin Connor, LC ended the retreat with a challenging talk on how to foster silence and reflection on a daily basis, in a world of social media at our fingertips.

Special thanks to our retreat facilitator, Elizabeth Veronneau, and our cook, Marisa Elias, who were also a vital part of this amazing weekend experience! Stay tuned for more exciting young adult events in the future!
